Changes in the Medicaid Rules Could Impact Funding for School-Based Health Centers in New York City Schools
School-based health centers (SBHCs) are an emerging concept in schools today. In a SBHC, the student can go to the health suite to seek medical care from the school nurse, a nurse practitioner or a physician. The intent of the centers is to keep kids healthy and in school at the same time. For parents, convenience is a large factor, as they do not need to leave work or struggle to obtain transportation to take their child to the doctor.
